On Monday we had a visit from the Essex police. We learnt all about the equipment that a police officer carries and how to keep safe. We were also luck enough to get a sneak peek inside their police car and even got to turn the sirens on.

Monday 15th - Friday 19th May 2017

Miss Adlam has been teaching us the importance of a healthy lifestyle by looking at food and ways to exercise the heart. In our last session we had a go at walking, running, jogging, skipping and squatting. We had a great time and learnt that exercise can be fun.

Monday 8th May - Friday 12th May

In preparation for our Barleylands trip we have been learning about food. Angelfish class have been intrigued by this Science topic and even impressed the Barleylands team with their knowledge and questioning skills.

Our trip to Barleylands was fantastic! The children learnt lots of educational facts about farming and the production of food. They also got the opportunity to make some yummy bread, ride a very bumpy tractor and feed the animals.

Monday 1st - Friday 5th May

On Friday 5th we all wore our wellies in aid of the RNLI. We also learnt about how wellies are made and had a go at designing our own.

In maths this week we have been sharing objects fairly to find a half or a quarter of a given number.

Monday 17th - Friday 21st April 2017

Monday 27th March - Friday 31st March

It's been an exciting week leading up to the Easter Holiday including a trip to East beach on the train and the Easter bonnet parade. We hope you all have a lovely break over the Easter Holiday.

Monday 20th - Friday 24th March 2017

This week our school has been lucky enough to play host to The Problem Solving Company and each class has had an individual session in the Upper School Hall to try out some of the activities.

Our session was on Wednesday and we had a great time!

Poor Miss Scott wasn't very well so Mrs Coulson, Mrs Fox and Mrs Jones accompanied us and they were all impressed with the way that we worked in our teams to solve the problems.

Tom gave us a pattern that we had to copy using the shapes that he had given us. We split into teams and we began! Once we had mastered the first one, Tom gave us a more challenging pattern to make. Could we do it? Of course we could!

Monday 20th February – Friday 25th February

We have been learning how to collect data and how to use this to help us answer questions. We have collected eye colour information and used it to make a tally chart and a pictogram.

The most common eye colour in Angelfish Class was BLUE.

Monday 30th January- Friday 3rd February

This week I recruited some mini teachers to help teach the class.

Monday 23rd January- Friday 27th January

This week we have been writing our own Cinderella story using all that we have learnt about fairy tales. Everyone has worked extremely hard and made me very proud. Keep up the hard work my little Angelfish.

In science we have also been learning about materials and their properties, which we used to help us sort objects in to the right categories.

Monday 16th - Friday 20th January

This week we have been listening, reading and acting out Fairy tales with a focus on Cinderella. We've had a go at using adjectives to describe the characters in the story in preparation for writing our own Cinderella story next week. Here are some pictures of what we've been up to this week.

Monday 9th - Friday 13th January

Happy New Year to you all. This week we have been looking at New Year Traditions and we have made our own New Year Resolutions.

Monday 5th-Friday 9th December 2016

The big day is not far off! We’ve practised long and hard and we hope you’re going to love our beautiful singing and instrument playing. Here’s a sneak peak at our dress rehearsal this week.

Monday 28th - Friday 2nd December 2016

Thank you so much to all the parents who came to help Angelfish Class create such beautiful decorations. Our classroom is looking very festive thanks to your splendid glitter skills.

Monday 21st - Friday 25th November 2016

Following our visit to the library gardens I set the children a challenge, which they more than rose to. The children were asked to use marshmallows and spaghetti to build a tall and strong structure that would stand on its own.

It was certainly a trial and error process but eventually the children worked out that they needed a base in order to build upwards. Not all of the children were successful but they were able to explain why their structure collapsed.

It was sticky and messy but we certainly had fun!

Monday 14th-Friday 18th November

Wow! What a busy week we've had in Angelfish Class. This week we have learnt about writing stories and even went to the beach to act out our 'Lost!' story. Together we have created a word bank of awesome adjectives, which we will be using next week to write own version of the story. Angelfish Class have impressed me with their enthusiasm and I can't wait to read their stories next week.

Monday 7th- Friday 11th November

It's been yet another busy week in Angelfish Class.

This week we having learnt about the festival of Diwali and enjoyed listening to the story of Rama and Sita. We've also made our own Diwali lamps, rangoli patterns and decorative elephants.

Monday 31st - Friday 4th November 2016

It's been a really busy week in Angelfish Class. We met up with our book buddies for the first time and shared our books with Cockle Shell Class. As you can see we had a lovely time finding out about our buddies and we are looking forward to the next time we meet.

Monday 17th - Friday 21st October 2016

This term we have been learning about people who help us and this week we had a visit from the RNLI. We learnt a lot about the lifeboats and how the RNLI help people in Southend.

Here is a snapshot of some of the things that Angelfish have been doing this half term - as you can see we have been very busy since we returned to school in September!

Talking of being busy, I would like to apologise for the late posting - it has been an absolute whirlwind over the past 7 weeks!

Look out for weekly postings of our photos after half term.
