Monday 17th September – Friday 21st September 2018
Another action packed week in Sandhopper 2. In our Maths lessons we have been partitioning 2 digit numbers and making the numbers using tens and ones equipment. In Art this week we have been looking at ‘The Great Wave’ painting by the Japanese artist Hokusai and making our own pictures in his unique style. Did you know that during his life, Hokusai moved house 93 times?! Apparently he did not like housework so when his house became uninhabitable he simply moved in to another one!
We have also conducted an experiment to find out which materials are absorbent-phew!
Monday 10th – Friday 14th September 2018
Wow! Our first full week in Year 2 and it has been action packed- we have had our first ASSA session on the astroturf and we have investigated everyday materials in our science lesson and discussed why a teapot made of chocolate would be no use to anyone!
We have discussed our worries in our Jigsaw lesson and how we overcame them, now our only worry is can we keep up this pace? Of course we can!
Homework Opportunity: Please keep reading regularly at home and making an entry in to your child’s Home Link Book-we have a brand new reading reward scheme which your child will tell you all about.
Thursday 6th – Friday 7th September 2018
Welcome back! It has been lovely to see so many smiley faces over the last two days and to see the children come back with a new enthusiasm for learning. We have spent the two days learning our class routines and immersing ourselves in this half terms topic, which is weather. We've managed to squeeze in time for art and outdoor learning session as well as writing about our summer holiday news and agreeing our class rules. We hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing the children again on Monday.
