Year 5 have gone into Leigh Broadway and handed slips similar to this one to people who they have met – just to cheer them up as an act of kindness.
I think that we have all learnt through this Lent period, that to cheer people up it really doesn’t take much sometimes….. It can just be the sincere compliment or the small gift that changes, in an instant, the way that people feel.
Year 5 go to talk to a different generation, at the Salvation Army Day Centre, just around the corner from the school.
The children had organised lots of questions to help their half an hour conversation. We hoped that everyone there enjoyed it, the children certainly did.
One of Year 5’s ‘Acts of Kindness’ was to think of making people smile through offering them free cakes made at home.
Children went into Leigh to make people passing smile – it really worked! Everyone was so happy and thought that the school children had come up with a great idea.
“It really has made my day, thank you!”
“What a wonderful school, thank you”
“Can I take an extra one – it’s my daughter’s Birthday and it will really make her smile?”
“This is such a lovely idea to make the world a nicer place – thank you”
“You are all so kind”
