Curriculum

At Leigh North Street we have high expectations for all children to enjoy and achieve across the curriculum. All learning opportunities are rooted in our school values of ASPIRE our key driver in the promotion of British Values and Equality, thus promoting the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils.

We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of our school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and, in particular, RE, PSHE and Assemblies provide opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world.

We aim to develop positive learning habits and growth mindsets in order that all children achieve their potential, are prepared for the next stage of their education and will flourish in the 21st Century. We believe that the most profound and accelerated learning takes place when children can readily apply the skills they have learned to meaningful and purposeful contexts. Our curriculum will enable children to develop independent thought through exploring, linking, questioning and challenging.
